Case review
Updated: 03-Jun-2011

This was the first trip by the couple to Portugal since the announcement that the case of their missing daughter is to be reviewed by the Metropolitan Police.

“We hope that the review from the Metropolitan Police will bring a new boost to the investigation process and that both authorities – the Metropolitan Police and the Portuguese PJ – can cooperate,” said Kate, although she declined to comment about whether she had any confidence in the Portuguese authorities if they did agree to reopen the case.

However, she remained positive about the new British police review: “It will bring together all the information that is in the process in Portugal, in the UK and that is held by our own investigation team. This is crucial to linking pieces of information together which may prove significant.”

Kate added that both she and Gerry would be willing to liaise with British police while they were in the Algarve if the police “felt it to be useful to the process”.
