President seeks clarification on tolls decree
Updated: 09-Dec-2011

President of Portugal Cavaco Silva has questioned the government over the decree regulating the introduction of tolls on the remaining SCUT roads in Portugal, including the A22.

As the Boliqueime-born President awaits a response from the government, it is unlikely that a decision on the tolls will be made until mid-December as Cavaco Silva has 40 working days to either promulgate or veto the decree.

Meanwhile, a toll gantry support building and information sign were vandalised on the A22 Via do Infante last weekend.

The equipment near the Areeiro tunnel, Loulé, was set on fire with the toll support building destroyed by the flames.

Police are investigating the incident.
