The International Autodrome of the Algarve (AIA), also known as the Portimão Motor Park, has unveiled its programme for 2012.

Racing fans can look forward to an exciting schedule of nine top class competitive weekends beginning with the SBK Portugal championship round between April 14 and 16.

A fortnight later (April 27 to 29) the action switches to four wheels as the International GT Open, F2 and European F3 Championships come to town.

The first weekend in July sees the return of the prestigious FIA GT1 World Championship featuring the best touring car drivers from around the globe.

Following a summer break, the engines roar back to life between September 14 and 16 as Superstars, GT Sprint and the Ferrari Challenge provide two days of high octane entertainment.

Only a matter of days later the perhaps internationally most widely followed contest of the year takes place with the Portuguese round of the World Superbike and Supersport Championship.

The focus of attention will be on the state-of-the-art karting track at the beginning of October which hosts the World Supermotor Championships for the second successive year on the sixth and seventh of that month.

That highlight is followed by the now well established Algarve Historic Festival which brings together classic automobiles from all over the continent.

The beginning of November brings back the nostalgia-evoking Le Mans Series usually enjoying a large following but what is surely one of the coups of the year for AIA management brings the season to a close with a bang- the Algarve debut of the Rotax finals.

For seven days starting on November 28 the crème-de-la-crème of world karting pilots will come together in Portimão to dispute the overall crown in that discipline.

Tickets for all the above featured events have already gone on sale at the track box office and as a special incentive to local fans, all purchases made before the end of March will enjoy a huge 50% discount- don’t be left behind at the start!
