I am in total agreement with Terry Dunn (April 27) that this is long overdue. However one has to ask - how far does this go - particularly in Portugal?
If you buy a car registered in Germany or France and take it with you to the UK, you can register it in the UK without any financial penalty. If you have a car registered in the UK and you want to bring it to Portugal, register it and use it while you are here, a MASSIVE import duty becomes payable.
Does this proposed legislation do away with this unjust discrimination and allow the free movement of cars from one EU country to another without financial penalty?
