Anything to declare?

A shocking sight greeted airport scanner staff when a couple tried to smuggle their baby through an airport stuffed inside a holdall.

The pair put the newborn’s life at risk by allowing him to be exposed to radiation in the X-ray machine because the boy did not have a visa.

Security officers were horrified when they saw the outline of the baby and the mum and dad were arrested.

The Egyptian couple had landed at Sharjah International Airport in the United Arab Emirates with their child last week but were refused entry over the lack of proper paperwork.

They were allowed to stay until the relevant office opened again, but grew impatient and tried their luck when security shifts swapped over, this time with the baby in the bag.

The couple were charged with endangering the baby’s life.

It is unclear how the child got on to the aircraft without paperwork or whether he was hidden during the flight. However, the baby was said to be well.
