A very interesting article, but it begs one to think that perhaps instead of trying to kill tourism through the A22 toll, new tourist taxes and increased VAT, the powers that be in Lisbon might listen to the people on the front lines in the Algarve and look at how vital tourism is to the overall economic well-being.
We love Portugal, have been wintering there for 12 years and are saddened to see what is happening. We know quite a number of Canadians who have stopped coming for all those reasons.
And now the EN125 mess just adds to that frustration. Two Canadians died in March as a result of accidents and those are just the two we knew. How many more are there that we don’t know about?
Keep up the good work keeping us all informed by being able to read the Algarve Resident online. Obrigada.
