Your favourite Algarve beach
Updated: 26-Jan-2012
We asked our Facebook followers to tell us what was their Algarve beach of choice and why. Here are just some of the answers we received:
Debra Sadler Burkett: Zavial because it’s quieter with a nice restaurant, but the sea is cold.
Chilloutbar Alvor Algarve: Alvor because it’s clean and you have everything close.
Stuart Francis: Alvor ... clean and spacious.
Lindsay McWilliams: Faro – clean, easy access (Vale do Lobo is the worst)
Riet van der Giesen: Armação de Pêra because it’s quiet and has a very good restaurant, Náutica
Karen McDonald: Alvor without a doubt!
Carlos Beltran Alves: Manta Rota, best sand, warmest water, no rocks falling and endless space.
Jayne Jackson: Santa Eulália ... small and pretty
Carolyn Saunders: Vila Real de Santo António because it’s just a beautiful beach without lots of people or amusements.
Caroline Ottevaere-glorieux: Praia dos Tomates (Falésia) with Quebra Coco Bar: the most beautiful beach of Algarve for me! Love it.
“Algarve Best Walks”: Praia de Benagil, there is still some local fishing activity, which is nicely integrated with beach loving residents and tourists
Sarah Crake-jones: Alvor is my favourite, it stretches for about 3 miles and even in the height of summer there is still loads of space on it so you don’t feel like you are in a can of sardines (excuse the pun!) like you do in Spain.
