Apolónia supermarket proves its dedication to the height in quality, variety, service and excellent value for money with the recent reopening of the fish counter in its Almancil store.
The opening marks a new episode in the supermarket’s fish counter service, with in-house management enhancing Apolónia’s focus not only on quality but also on competitive prices, while increasing the physical size of the section.
Sourcing only the freshest fish from selected fish markets around the region and beyond, Apolónia insists on the strictest of control processes, from ensuring the hygienic transport of fish from source, or adequate storage conditions, to due labelling, refrigeration and staff training.
With quality levels guaranteed, variety is the next focus of attention, with the counter overflowing with seafood to suit every culinary request and situation.
Customers are given a tour of the finest produce caught off Portugal’s coastlines and beyond. From the humble sardine or mackerel, ocean royalty such as John Dory, Sole, Turbot and Monkfish, and not forgetting shellfish and molluscs, including locally caught Scarlet Shrimps, Octopus, Squid and Clams. For any special requests, the counter assistants are happy to take orders.
Assistants are trained to prepare every product – filleting, gutting, boning, and even splitting (for the traditional peixe escalado). And they can offer advice on how to cook it. Introducing customers to local recipes, the fish counter will also suggest and prepare ingredients for dishes such as cataplana, caldeirada, raia alhada, arroz de marisco, etc. and give tips on the best fish for your barbecue.
Like an authentic market stall, Apolónia’s new-look fish counter brings the knowhow and expertise of local traditions, while adding the Apolónia seal of quality, variety and service. We look forward to serving you soon.
