Ferrari celebrated a glorious first and second position with Barrichello finishing in front of Schumacher
Record world champion Michael Schumacher and his Ferrari team came ‘home’ to Monza for their ‘victory lap’, with the German scorching around the track in training, staying over three-tenths of a second ahead of the chasing pack.

After final qualifying, it was team-mate Barrichello, however, who snatched pole position ahead of Montoya and the German with Alonso in fourth. Schumacher spun off shortly after the start, recommencing the race in 15th, with it all to do. The challenge only served to hone the champion’s skills as he rolled up the field from behind. At the finishing line, Ferrari and the ‘Tiffosi’ celebrated a glorious one-two – Barrichello in front of Schumacher. The order did not matter and neither did third and fourth placed Button and Trulli. The prancing black horse trampled all over the opposition this season once more.
