As the Algarve prepares to celebrate the festive season, both the PSP and GNR services have decided to reinforce patrols over Christmas and New Year. The aim is to guarantee more security at a time when there are large numbers of tourists in the region, especially during the New Year celebrations. The GNR will boost the number of permanent officers on patrol by around 50 men, mainly from the Batalhão Operacional, who will be deployed in areas such as Albufeira, Vilamoura and Armação de Pêra.
