Detox myth
Updated: 17-Jan-2009

Products claiming to have detoxifying properties have been slammed by independent researchers, who say that products are at best a waste of money and at worst could have dangerous health consequences.

The term detox means to remove toxins. However no two companies followed the same definition of detox and often it was simply used as a new word for cleaning or brushing.

Experts are worried that people are being misled by scientific sounding language and are now looking to re-educate the public.
