Charity lottery prizes
Updated: 23-Jul-2010

A lottery in aid of humanitarian relief for the people of Palestine failed to sell sufficient numbers of tickets to be able to provide the promised first prize of a holiday in a luxury villa.

Instead, the winner was awarded a first prize of 250 Euros.

Organiser of the lottery Linsay Carmichael told the Algarve Resident: “We did not manage to reach our target of 20,000 pounds sterling and the winner accepted 10 per cent of the 2,500 Euros we managed to raise.”

She added: “The main reason we were unable to reach our target was due to PayPal closing my accounts during the raffle and this issue has only been resolved in the last eight weeks.”

The first prize of 250 pounds sterling was won by Sylvia Al-Hamsi from Damascus in Syria.
